Why We Exist
Play isn’t just fun—it’s essential. It builds confidence, strengthens communities, and sparks healing.
Yet in many neighborhoods, simple joy is a luxury. High costs, limited access, and lack of invitation shut the door on play.
We exist to open it.
Our Mission
Make play accessible to all—regardless of income, ability, or background.
Our Vision
A world where everyone enjoys the freedom, wellness, and belonging that come from play.
Communities are healthier and more vibrant when everyone has room to laugh, learn, and connect.
How We Do It
We listen. We show up. We remove barriers. And then we play.
Pop‑Up Play Programs – Bringing free, fun, inclusive events directly to under-resourced areas.
Microgrants – Small cash grants so individuals or grassroots groups can access recreation (sports, dance, art—you name it).
Workshops & Community Support – Low-cost, creative sessions and training to build local capacity for play.
Everything we do is adaptive, local-first, and judgment-free.
Our Story
Play for All Foundation was born from a simple but powerful belief: recreation shouldn’t feel like a luxury.
For years, we saw families in Roanoke struggle to find programs they could afford, access, or feel truly welcomed in. We saw how transportation, cost, and pressure to "fit in" kept too many people—especially in Southeast and Northwest neighborhoods—from joining in.
So in 2025, a small group of women came together with a bold idea:
What if we met people where they are—physically, financially, and emotionally—and simply invited them to play?
With a deep commitment to community, Play for All Foundation launched from coffee shops and public parks. We packed up chalk, balls, and art kits. We knocked on doors, hosted pop-ups, and started helping people reclaim joy in small, meaningful ways.
Since then, we've grown into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on removing the barriers that make recreation feel out of reach. Whether it’s a two-hour play event, a free workshop, or a small grant to make a dream possible—our mission stays the same:
to make play feel possible again—for everyone.
Because play heals.
Because play connects.
Because play belongs to all of us.
Why It Matters
When people play, they connect.
When they connect, communities heal.
When communities heal, everyone wins.
